TATAA Biocenter have found that
the
worldwide demand for training in the field of quantitative
real-time PCR (qPCR) is huge. To coordinate this we aim to arrange
a 3-day qPCR Core Module:
The
first workshop day will be directed to people planning or
considering using qPCR in their research and also users not yet fully
familiar will qPCR.
Second
day targets more advanced users and people concentrating on
different quantification strategies.
The
third day focuses on aspecs in sample preparation and reverse
transcription.
Courses contain both,
theoretical seminars and practical hands-on
training with experienced supervision.
Quantitative
Polymerase Chain Reaction is becoming more and more important in almost
all laboratories. The aim of this international short-course is to give
the participants an in-depth view in the theoretical and practical
knowledge of Quantitative PCR techniques. State-of-the-art experts in
the field of Quantitative PCR techniques from several research and
diagnostic laboratories will provide further theoretical and practical
expertise.
This course is
developed for experienced laboratory technicians or researchers
involved in the life sciences laboratories, incl. medical diagnostics,
microbiology, genetics, pathology, immunology, agriculture,
biochemistry, etc.
Basic
knowledge of molecular biology in general and PCR is a prerequisite. If
you feel you lack the basic knowledge in PCR or the principles of
real-time PCR, but you would like to participate in this quantitative
PCR course, please note that the Avans Hogeschool also offers an
international introductory short course: Principles, parameters, and
applications of PCR (code 2545), which is especially suitable as a
basic introduction to this course.
Course
structure: The course consists
of a series of practical sessions interspersed with lectures and
tutorials. 50% of the time is devoted to lectures and 50% is spent on
"hands-on" experiments, covering techniques that may be directly
applied in research and diagnostic laboratories. All participants will
receive a practical manual containing all used protocols and a
reference manual "Rapid cycle real-time PCR", Springer Verlag, Berlin.

prominent and still growing place taken by real-time quantitative PCR
in applied and fundamental research and clinical diagnostics almost
appears obvious. However, it is clear that contributions made by
various scientists and companies in the field during the last decade
rendered this technology useful and affordable for many users.
Importantly,
the qPCR domain is still in constant evolution, making it sometimes
hard to stay informed about new methodological approaches or original
studies using the real-time PCR. Therefore, we have scheduled a one day
"Benelux qPCR
Symposium"
on October 6th
2008,
giving the opportunity to the scientific community to get
informed and discuss various aspects of real-time PCR (including but
not limited to new applications, assay optimization and validation, new

Basic Real-Time PCR training EU
(2 days)
Objective:
In this course, the participant is trained on the basic knowledge of
Real-Time PCR and its applications for quantitative and SNP analysis.
With the use of practical examples, this course focuses on the correct
use of the web-based tools for searching genomic TaqMan. assays and the
SDS and the Primer Express. software. In addition, an overview of the
diverse applications of Real-Time PCR is presented.
This
training course is optimized for scientists new to ABI PRISM. Real-Time
PCR platforms and who wish to establish and optimally use the system
for Real-Time PCR and SNP analysis applications.
